At the Spelling Bee

Updated: Mar 13

This winter, family and friends came to cheer on students from 1st grade to 8th grade at the annual Trinity Pacific Christian School spelling bee. Students worked hard and prepared thoroughly in order to test their spelling skills and compete for an opportunity to represent TPCS at the Ventura County SAGE Spelling Bee, the regional partner for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. A winner was named for each grade, who then moved onto a final championship round. Seventh-grader Annalise Cheng became the TPCS champion with the correct spelling of the word “financial.”

Competing at the county level began with a preliminary round where 110 champions from schools throughout Ventura County were competing for a spot in the final oral round. We are pleased to announce that Annalise was among the top 20 finalists in the county and represented our school well in the finals on March 2!

Participation in spelling bees allows students to gain experience in public speaking, develop confidence and inspire a love of learning. We are so proud of all the students who participated and we hope to see you at our next Spelling Bee competition!
